Top 10 Best 7-Seater Cars in India 2025: Choosing the best seven-seater car in India is never simple. With so many options like Kia Carens, Maruti Ertiga, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and Toyota Fortuner, it’s natural to feel confused about which one is truly worth buying.
Some cars give you more style but less space, some offer great power but compromise on mileage, and a few feel way too expensive for what they provide. Making the wrong choice could mean ending up with a car that doesn’t suit your family’s needs or your budget.
That’s why in this article, I’ll break things down for you in a clear and simple way. I’m going to rank the 10 best seven-seater cars in India, highlight the strengths and drawbacks, and show you which one deserves the number one spot. And yes—the car at number five is my personal favourite. So let’s start with number 10.
Number 10: Maruti Ertiga / Toyota Rumion
Maruti Ertiga or Toyota Rumion, both are basically the same car. This is the best-selling 7-seater car in India. Inside, there is ample space for seven people, and even in the third row, two adults can sit comfortably. Yes, under-thigh support is a little less, but in this budget, it’s good.
The Ertiga comes with the same 1.5L engine as the Grand Vitara and Brezza, producing 102 BHP and 136 Nm of torque. Meaning, even with seven people onboard, you won’t feel underpowered. Price ranges between ₹10.13 lakh to ₹15.5 lakh on-road. If you want CNG, you’ll get it at ₹12.74 lakh.

But there are three negatives: first, it has the image of a taxi car. Second, the interior looks outdated, like a 2012–13 car. Third, if you want the CNG base model, the waiting period is 7–8 months. Apart from that, the car is super reliable, service cost is low, mileage is good, and it won’t leave you stranded.
Number 9: Renault Triber
Your Renault Triber is a 9-seater car. The biggest USP of this car is its price—₹6.93 lakh to ₹10.1 lakh on-road. That means the Triber’s top model is cheaper than the Ertiga’s base model. There’s ample space inside, even in the third row. Two adults can sit comfortably.
But here comes the problem: the engine. It has the same 1.0L engine you find in smaller hatchbacks, producing just 71 BHP and 96 Nm torque.

Whether you drive it alone or fully loaded, it feels underpowered. This is a car just for point A to point B, with seven people seated, cruising at 80–90 kmph. Don’t expect overtaking or highway punch.
Still, if your budget is tight, the Triber is good. Interiors are better than the Ertiga, it doesn’t look like a taxi, mileage is good, and for calm driving, it does the job. Just don’t go for the CNG.

Number 8: Tata Safari
Oye hoye hoye, brother! The Tata Safari is such a beautiful car that just by looking at it, you’ll want to go on a safari. Built on Land Rover’s platform, the Safari feels premium from top to bottom. Connected DRLs at the front, connected LED tail lamps at the rear, and panoramic sunroof make it look absolutely sexy.
It comes with a 2.0L diesel engine from Fiat, producing 167 BHP and 350 Nm of torque—the same engine you get in the Jeep Compass costing ₹37 lakh. Safari’s price starts from ₹18 lakh and goes up to ₹32 lakh on-road.

Two negatives: first, it only comes with a diesel engine, and we all know diesel bans can come anytime in India.
Second, Tata’s reliability and after-sales service are not very strong. Third-row space is fine for adults on short routes, but on long drives, it’s best for kids. Still, Safari has a 5-star safety rating and that bold Tata build quality.
Number 7: Hyundai Alcazar
This is basically your Hyundai Creta’s elder sister. Just imagine adding a third row to the Creta and calling it Alcazar. The facelift came recently with connected LED DRLs, C-shaped tail lamps, and a dual-screen interior.

Engines are the same as Creta’s petrol and diesel, so it runs smooth. Price is from ₹17 lakh to ₹25.5 lakh. Headroom in the third row is decent, making it a complete family car.
The only issue? It’s a little overpriced. When its price almost overlaps with Safari, most people prefer Safari.

Number 6: Maruti XL6
The XL6 is basically a premium Ertiga. The negatives of the Ertiga—old interiors, taxi image, and long CNG waiting—are fixed here. You get fresh interiors, Nexa badging, and CNG without much waiting time.

The best part? Captain seats in the middle row, making it super comfortable for long drives. Price ranges from ₹13.7 lakh to ₹17.1 lakh, which is about ₹2 lakh more than Ertiga. From the back, it still looks like Ertiga, but the interiors and Nexa feel make it more premium.
Would you pay ₹2 lakh extra for XL6, or stick with Ertiga?
Number 5: Mahindra Scorpio N (My Favourite)
Now comes my favourite seven-seater—the Mahindra Scorpio N. This car has shaken the market completely, selling 14–15,000 units every month.
Despite being much bigger than Alcazar, it’s available at ₹1.5 lakh cheaper. Base price starts at ₹16 lakh, and the Z8 variant (value for money) is around ₹22 lakh. You even get 4×4 if you want.

The third row isn’t very spacious, best for kids, but the interiors feel premium, competing with Fortuner at half the price. Safety is 5-star, engines are powerful, and the road presence is unmatched. Blow the horn once and the road clears—this is the Big Daddy of SUVs.

Number 4: Toyota Fortune
Now comes the Fortuner—the ultimate symbol of power and status. It’s the favourite of politicians and businessmen. Wherever you go in a Fortuner, people will turn to look at you.
It’s a true seven-seater where even eight or nine people can fit. The 2.8L diesel produces a massive 500 Nm torque, and a 2.7L petrol is also available.

Why not number one? Because the facelift and next-gen Fortuner are coming in 2026 with a new design and features. Current one feels a bit outdated.
Number 3: Kia Carens
Kia recently gave Carens a facelift, and oye hoye hoye, what a futuristic car! Price starts at ₹13.3 lakh, which makes it cheaper than Alcazar but with almost the same features.

Engines include 1.5 NA Petrol, 1.5 Turbo Petrol, and 1.5 Diesel. Inside, it feels premium with a great dashboard layout and spacious third row. From the outside, it looks like a ₹30–40 lakh SUV.
No wonder it’s becoming a favourite family choice.
Number 2: Mahindra XUV700
This is one of the hottest-selling SUVs in India. Harrier and Safari together sell about 2,500 units per month, while XUV700 sells 6,000–7,000.
Why? Because even in mid variants you get features like panoramic sunroof, dual-screen interior, 5-star safety, and powerful engines—2.2L diesel and 2.0L turbo petrol with 200 BHP.

It feels super stable even at 150 kmph, giving you the confidence of cruising at 80–90. Stylish, powerful, value-for-money—XUV700 ticks all boxes.
Bonus Cars
- Mahindra Bolero Neo: Compact, under ₹13 lakh, rear-wheel drive, great for rough roads.
- XUV700 Plus Variant: More premium, massive screen, luxury feel.
Number 1: Toyota Innova Hycross
Finally, the number one 7-seater—the Toyota Innova Hycross. This is also the car my family recently bought, and trust me, it’s the most practical.

Source : Car Wale
The most value-for-money variant is the VX, costing around ₹30 lakh on-road. It offers the best third-row seating space under ₹50 lakh in India. Interiors are premium, comfort is unmatched, and reliability is pure Toyota.
Yes, it’s expensive, but when you look at the practicality, space, and comfort, Innova Hycross easily stands out as the best seven-seater in India.
Conclusion
