Maruti Brezza vs Tata Nexon – Which One is Better?

BREZZA vs NEXON – Which Car Should You Buy ?? Choosing between Maruti Brezza vs Tata Nexon is one of the biggest questions for anyone looking to buy a compact SUV.

Both cars have made their mark in the Indian market with stylish looks, advanced features, and reliable performance.

The Brezza comes with Maruti’s strong reputation for mileage and wide service network, while the Nexon impresses with its bold design, 5-star safety rating, and feature-rich cabin.

In this article, we’ll break down every detail—design, features, mileage, safety, and price—so you can easily decide which is the smarter choice: the Maruti Brezza or the Tata Nexon.

Design & Styling

This time Maruti has copied the design of Range Rover. You can see both the cars from the back. Both have thin tail lights and the name of the vehicle is written in big letters in between the tail lights. So the side curves of both are exactly the same.

If we look at the Brezza from the front, there is a small grill and DRL. There is nothing much special. And if we talk about the design of Tata Nexon, then Tata has hit a six this time.

In Nexon you get the looks of an Italian car. At the rear, there are some really cute connected LED taillights. It has a very sexy curvy design on the sides and from the front it is almost the same design as Tata Harrier.

You can see both the cars. There are DRLs on the rear and headlamps below them. Whereas in the Nexon EV, you get fully connected LED DRLs in the front which look a bit like tubelights.

But but but Brezza is a taller car than Nexon. Not only this, the Brezza is also a taller car than the Creta, Seltos and Honda Elevate which is one segment higher. This means that when you drive Brezza, you will get a complete SUV feel.

Interior Comparison

And the interiors beat the Nexon Brezza badly. Brezza has a small 8-inch screen and an 8-year old steering wheel which also came in the 2017 Dzire.

Analog speedometer is 8 years old. And if you look at the rest of the interior, it is also similar to the Baleno of the lower segment.

On the other hand, Nexon again gets the same interior as the Harrier Safari. Big 10-inch screen, new premium steering wheel with lights and it feels like you are sitting in an airplane. Whose design did you like? Let me know in the comments.

Engine & Performance

Now let us know whose horse has more life. Meaning whose engine is stronger. The Brezza will be powered by a 1.5 L NA engine that produces 102 Bhp and 136 Nm of torque. Also, Smart Hybrid Technology is available in this engine. Whose main purpose is to improve the mileage further. This means that a small 12 volt extra battery has been installed which slightly increases the torque and mileage. Brezza is perfect for driving both in city and highway. It is comfortable and runs well at 100-120 rpm. But due to the absence of a turbo engine in Brezza, it does not give a sporty feel.

Tata Nexon Power

The Nexon will get a 1.2 L turbo engine that produces 118 Bhp and 170 Nm of torque, which is more than the Brezza. This means that Nexon will give you a sporty feel and will also be more fun to drive. Yes, it is a turbo engine so there might be a little turbo lag in the city. But once the rpm goes above 1700, the Nexon becomes an absolute rocket.

Japanese vs Indian Engineering

So brother, on one side there is the reliable Japanese engine which also comes in the Grand Vitara XL6. On the other hand, there is the Nexon engine designed and manufactured in India which is also available in the Tata C Curve. The only negative is that the Nexon has a three cylinder engine. Whereas Brezza comes with a four cylinder engine. This means you will feel less vibrations in Brezza and more in Nexon.

Extra Choices

Have you driven either Nexon or Brezza? Share your experience in the comments. Along with this, you will get the option of CNG in both. And Nexon will get the EV flavour with an extra diesel engine.

Features & Technology

All this is fine but who gives more mileage? I will tell you further. Watch till the end. Before talking about mileage, let’s talk about the features. In terms of features, both the vehicles are absolute Brahmastras. You will get whatever you want.

360 camera, wireless charging, six airbags in the base model, ABS, EBD, hill hold, reverse camera, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, rear AC vents, you will get all these things in both the cars.

In Nexon you will get extra ventilated seats, air purifier, EPMS, digital instrument cluster, JBL nine speaker system, large panoramic sunroof. With this it comes with AMT and DCA automatic. You won’t get all this in Brezza but you will get heads up display, torque converter automatic and a small sunroof. It is not big, it is small but it gets its work done.

So, Nexon beats Brezza in terms of features. But while the top model of Brezza is priced at Rs 16.3 lakh, the top model of Nexon is more expensive by Rs 1.5 lakh and costs Rs 18 lakh on-road.

Reliability & Maintenance

Now if we talk about the overall product, Nexon is a better product than Brezza. But still people are preferring to buy Brezza over Nexon. But why? Because Nexon has reliability issues. Tata has packed a lot of features in the car. But if any problem arises then the service center people have a tough time in fixing it.

A big screen has been provided in the car but this screen hangs again and again. Nexon gets a knob that lets you shift drive modes and it also starts hanging. Keep turning it but still no gear engages. You will find countless such issues on the internet which people faced after purchasing Nexon.

Japanese Reliability Advantage

Brezza is a Japanese car and Japanese are known for their reliability. Do not get Brezza serviced for 2-10 years nor get the engine oil changed, still there will be no problem with this car. Well, this should not be done. The car should be serviced on time. Even the Brezza has lower maintenance than the Nexon.

If you get the Nexon serviced by the company for 5 years, the cost of the Nexon will be up to ₹6000. The service of Maruti Brezza will be done for ₹ 5,000 for 5 years.

If you want to get service done from outside at a cheap rate then there is no problem. That too will bear the brunt of the Brezza and if by chance your vehicle breaks down while on the go, any one of the mechanics sitting at every corner will fix it in a jiffy.

So despite having fewer features, this is a huge advantage of Brezza over Nexon. But this doesn’t mean that the Nexon is a useless car. The car is absolutely a walking cocaine.

Safety

So this was the story of my two college friends. By the way, you might also know that Brezz has been given a four star safety rating by Global NCAP. But this rating was for the 2020 Brezza which came with two airbags.

Currently, six airbags are being offered in Brezza from the base model itself. So who knows, if Brezza is tested again then it might even get five stars. And even B NCAP has recently conducted a crash test of Baleno and has given it four stars. Who knows, Brezza might also create a stir.

Mileage & Resale

Now let’s come to the mileage. Look, Maruti is the father of all in mileage. No one in India has any doubt about this. It will give you mileage of 19.89 kmpl on petrol and 25.5 on CNG.

Nexon will cost Rs 18 for petrol and Rs 17.44 for CNG. And basically a CNG vehicle is meant for more mileage. This means that Brezz gives more mileage in petrol than Nexon CNG.

And if you go to sell the car after 5 years, it will sell for a higher amount than Brezza on even in resale.

Value-for-Money Variants

Talking about value for money models, it is Brez’s VXI and it will cost you Rs 11 lakh. I personally wouldn’t spend any more on Brez than that. I would rather take the Grand Vitara as it looks bigger and is more beautiful too.

The value for money model of Nexon is Pure Plus S which will cost Rs 11.25 lakh on-road. Along with this feature, a small sunroof will also be available in this model.

The large panoramic sunroof is only available on top models. And basically if I have to spend more money I will go for the Tata Curve. The base model of Curve will be available from Rs 11.5 lakh on-road.

Final Verdict

BREZZA vs NEXON – Which Car Should You Buy ?? Hey but which one is it to take? I’ll tell you Brezza or Nexon. So brother, one thing is 100% sure, if you want a tension free car which does not cost money, gives good mileage and also maintains your respect in the society, then buy Brezza and if you want a car which is just fun to drive and gives a wonderful feeling sitting inside it. And if you are not too concerned about mileage then buy Nexon.
